MOSCOW (AA) – Russia and Ukraine on Saturday accused each other of carrying out large-scale air attacks.
At least four Storm Shadow missiles, given to Ukraine by the UK, were fired at the city of Mauripol, Russia’s TASS news agency reported.
In a separate statement, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said Russian air defense systems shot down 12 HIMARS rockets and Storm Shadow missiles over the past day, as well as a US-made GBU-32 guided munition and 18 Ukrainian drones.
Ukrainian authorities countered with reports of their own, with Kyiv’s military administration saying its air defenses thwarted a large-scale Russian drone attack on the capital.
More than 10 blasts were heard and seen in Kyiv last night, one of which caused a blaze on the left bank of the Dnieper River, according to media reports.
