ISTANBUL (AA) – Russia and Ukraine reported on Saturday large-scale overnight drone and missile attacks targeting multiple regions, with both sides claiming significant interceptions and damage.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said Saturday that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 117 Ukrainian drones over several regions and the Black Sea.
“Over the course of the past night, air defense alert systems intercepted and destroyed 117 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry said, listing strikes across the Bryansk, Volgograd, Kursk, Rostov, Voronezh, Belgorod, Leningrad, Kaluga, Novgorod, and Smolensk regions, as well as Crimea and the Black Sea.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 109 drones and three ballistic missiles from several Russian cities, including Bryansk, Orel, and Rostov, hitting 21 locations across the country.
Since late Friday, Ukrainian air defenses “neutralized 73 drones” and intercepted “multiple missiles,” according to the Air Force statement on Telegram.
It added that strikes and debris caused damage in several regions, while air alerts remained in effect.
