MOSCOW (AA) - Russia on Thursday called on mediators in the Gaza conflict to intensify efforts to bring Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table and resume the Jan. 15 ceasefire.

Responding to an Anadolu question at a press briefing in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stressed that stability in the Palestinian enclave depends on all parties honoring the terms of the ceasefire agreement, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the US, and aimed to halt hostilities between Israel and Hamas and facilitate the exchange of detainees.

"A return to these agreements would create the necessary conditions for a ceasefire, the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents, and the launch of reconstruction efforts in the region," she stated.

Zakharova reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to constructive cooperation with all stakeholders to stabilize the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and promote broader peace in the Middle East.

"We expect mediators to make additional efforts to bring Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table," she added.
