ISTANBUL (AA) - Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Thursday to attend a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Russia's Defense Ministry said.
According to the statement, the meeting will focus on the current issues of multilateral military cooperation, aimed at strengthening national armed forces and ensuring regional stability.
The format of the event also provides for joint work among the defense chiefs of CIS member countries, the ministry added.
Belousov is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other CIS states during his visit.
