Russian investigators press charges against Ukrainian military chiefs in absentia

27 killed, 100 injured because of actions by former Defense Minister Zagorodniuk, Gen. Tantsyura, says Investigative Committee

MOSCOW (AA) – The Russian Investigative Committee on Friday pressed charges against former Ukrainian defense minister and a senior military officer in absentia.

In a statement on Telegram, the committee said 27 civilians were killed and more than 100 people were injured in Donetsk and Luhansk regions because of the actions by former Defense Minister Andriy Zagorodniuk, and Gen. Ihor Tantsyura in 2016, 2019, and 2020.

Also, the former head of the Ukrainian Donetsk group of forces, Oleksandr Krasnook, is accused of the same crimes, it added.

Several criminal cases have been initiated against members of other units of the armed forces of Ukraine involved in crimes against residents of Mariupol in 2022, it said.
