ISTANBUL (AA) – A Russian military delegation has reached North Korea for talks as Pyongyang and Moscow increase bilateral exchanges.
The delegation from the Military-Political General Department of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, led by Director Viktor Goremuikin, who is also vice defense minister, arrived in Pyongyang on Wednesday, the Korea Central News Agency reported.
The delegation was received by Pak Yong Il, vice-director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army, other military officers, and Russian ambassador Aleksandr Matsegora.
More details of the presumed meetings in Pyongyang were not immediately available.
North Korea has grown closer ties with Russia in recent years, including deploying troops in the war with Ukraine.
Pyongyang has lost dozens of soldiers in the war who fought in Russian territories, according to Moscow.
