MOSCOW (AA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin convened a meeting on Friday to discuss the country's military buildup, according to a Kremlin statement.
The meeting took place in the Security Council Hall at the Kremlin in Moscow.
Putin gathered all key military chiefs, including Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, and presidential aide for military affairs Alexey Dyumin.
According to the statement, the attendees discussed advancing the development of the Russian Armed Forces.
The meeting took place days after the Russian leader announced successful tests of Russia's newest weapons and instructed officials to gather information about US President Donald Trump's order to resume nuclear tests in order to decide on a reciprocal move.
