MOSCOW (AA) - A Russian Sukhoi Su-33 fighter jet crashed Monday into the Mediterranean Sea as it attempted to land on the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, the country's Defense Ministry said.
The jet skidded off the deck when an arresting gear cable broke and failed to decelerate the plane, the statement said, adding the pilot had ejected safely.
On Nov. 15, a Mig-29 fighter jet also crashed into the sea at a landing attempt on the same carrier, according to the statement.
