MOSCOW/ISTANBUL (AA) - Rostelecom, the largest digital services provider in Russia, announced Saturday that its underwater cable in the Baltic Sea was damaged.
It said the damage was caused by external influence but the incident did not affect customers.
Finland’s Coast Guard also said that the cable was damaged in Finnish territorial waters and a Russian ship is currently working in the region to repair the cable.
Previously, disruptions had been reported in the connection of four telecommunications cables passing under the Baltic Sea, as well as the EstLink 2 electricity transmission link between Finland and Estonia.
