ISTANBUL (AA) - The speaker of Russia’s upper house of parliament arrived in Armenia on an official visit on Thursday.
A statement by Russia’s Federation Council on Telegram said that a delegation led by its head, Valentina Matviyenko, arrived in the South Caucasus nation, where she is expected to hold talks with the country’s leadership.
“In particular, a conversation with the Speaker of the (Armenian) National Assembly Alen Simonyan is planned,” the statement said.
It further said that Matviyenko and Simonyan will also open the 39th meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the legislatures of both countries.
Matviyenko will also take part in the 10th Russian-Armenian Interregional Forum, the statement went on to say.
