ABU DHABI (AA) – A United Arab Emirates (UAE) soldier was killed as part of a Saudi-led air campaign against the Shia Houthi group in Yemen.

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces said Monday one of its soldiers had died in Yemen, the official Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

It, however, gave no details about the cause of the soldier’s death.

The UAE is a member of a Saudi-led coalition that has launched a massive military campaign last year against the Houthi group, which overran capital Sanaa in late 2014 and forced President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and his Saudi-backed government to temporarily flee to Riyadh.

According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than three million Yemenis have been displaced by the ongoing conflict in the Arab country.
