School burnt down by PKK terrorists reopens in Turkey

Locals say kindergarten looks better than before

VAN, Turkey (AA) - A kindergarten set ablaze last week by PKK terrorists in eastern Turkey has been repaired, officials said Sunday.

The school in Seyit Fehim Arvasi neighborhood of Van province has been restored, according to the district municipality.

The kindergarten, which has 140 students, reopened five days after repair work was completed and looks better than before, locals say.

More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
