ATHENS (AA) – A sea mine exploded in the Black Sea near Romania’s seaside resort village of Costinesti, local media reported Monday.

The blast, which occurred near a pier of a hotel, caused no casualties, said the state-run Agerpres news agency.

Later in the day, a second mine was detected nearby and eventually neutralized, the agency reported.

In a related development, Bulgaria’s BTA news agency reported that the Bulgarian Navy has taken additional actions for counter-mine monitoring to ensure the safety of ships and prevent incidents.

Additional response forces and resources are on standby in case alerts are received about floating mines, it added.
