ISLAMABAD (AA) – Security forces killed four militants and prevented terrorists from entering a military base in northwestern Pakistan after their accomplice carried out a suicide bombing, a security official said on Friday.

An explosive-laden vehicle rammed into the main entrance of a security headquarters in the Boya area of the North Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan, a security official in the area told Anadolu over the phone on the condition of anonymity, as he was not authorized to speak to the media.

"Militants first hit the main gate with an explosive-laden vehicle and then attempted to enter the compound," he said. However, security forces foiled the attempt and killed at least four militants, according to the official.

At least four security personnel were also injured in the attack.

A local police official at the police emergency control room also confirmed the attack, saying security forces imposed a curfew in the area.

In October, militants also carried out a suicide attack on a military base in Khadi village of North Waziristan, killing at least seven security personnel, while several militants were also killed in the attack.
