ISTANBUL (AA) - An alleged senior member of the far-left terrorist group, DHKP-C, was arrested in Istanbul on Wednesday, according to a security official.
Police captured Nurhan Yilmaz, who is mentioned under the "green" category in the list of wanted terrorists, during an anti-terror operation, the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.
Police also confiscated numerous digital materials during the raid.
The DHKP-C is responsible for a number of terror attacks in Turkey, including the 2013 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Ankara that left a Turkish security guard dead and a journalist injured.
The far-left group is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the European Union.
