BUDAPEST (AA) - A Serbian national accused of murdering 33 Kosovars 23 years ago was reportedly arrested on Monday in Budapest, Hungary's capital.
The arrest came after an international warrant was issued by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Kosovo, the Budapest Chief Prosecutor's Office told Hungarian News Agency (MTI) in a statement.
The warrant issued last month was for war crimes committed against the civilian population.
According to reports, the suspect and two of his associates were charged with aiding and abetting the 1999 attack in Kosovo that resulted in the deaths of 33 civilians.
The prosecutor general's office will get in touch with the Kosovo legal authorities via the Hungarian Ministry of Justice, according to the statement that said the Hungarian court is looking into the suspect's extradition process.
