BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Serbia's first lady on Monday held a video call with her Ukrainian counterpart Olena Zelenskyy.

"As a woman and a mother, I want to share one personal wish with you -- that peace comes as soon as possible, as the main prerequisite for any future progress, for all people," said Tamara Vucic.

Vucic also pledged two ambulances for Ukraine as the war with Russia rages on.

"Serbia will donate two fully equipped ambulances to Ukraine. This is our way of expressing our support and showing that we care, as well as that we understand the situation in Ukraine," said Vucic.

Serbia is the only country in Europe that did not impose sanctions against Russia.

In the Western Balkans, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania have joined the EU and US in sanctioning Russia over the war in Ukraine.

Serbia has so far refrained from following suit but faces growing pressure over its neutrality and reluctance to sanction Moscow.
