Somalia appoints new police, intelligence chiefs

Last October, Somalia's chief of intelligence and police commissioner were dismissed after an attack in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AA) - The Somali cabinet on Monday appointed the new commanders for the police forces, intelligence services, and custodial corps.

Hussein Osman Hussein was appointed National Intelligence and Security Agency chief while Bashir Mohamed was named as the new police commander.

Gen. Bashir Mohamed Jamac now heads the custodial corps.

Last October, Somalia's government dismissed the country's chief of intelligence and police commissioner, a day after an attack in the capital, Mogadishu that claimed more than 25 lives.
