ISTANBUL (AA) - Major South Korean defense firms showcased AI-powered micro unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as well as other naval combat technologies at the 2025 International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX) held in Busan on Wednesday, Yonhap News reported.
The ongoing four-day MADEX exhibition, held in the southeastern port city of Busan, is a key platform for showcasing cutting-edge naval defense technologies and fostering international defense cooperation.
Korean Air participated for the first time, showcasing its AI-powered micro unmanned aerial vehicles and medium-altitude UAVs.
The company also emphasized its long-standing expertise in maintenance, repair, and overhaul, especially for naval aircraft such as the LYNX, P-3C, and F-406, a service it has provided since 1997.
Hanwha Systems revealed a scale model of its combat unmanned surface vessel (USV) for the first time.
The USV was developed in collaboration with Hanwha Ocean and Hanwha Aerospace, combining Hanwha Systems’ combat technology and manned-unmanned teaming capabilities with Hanwha Ocean’s shipbuilding expertise and Hanwha Aerospace’s missile systems development.
Korea Aerospace Industries exhibited models of its assault helicopter, mine countermeasure helicopter, and high-speed midsize utility helicopter.
Korea Aerospace Industries also highlighted high-speed patrol ship simulator technology, delivered to the South Korean navy earlier this year, and shared its plans to develop domestically produced core shipboard control systems.
