South Korean police seek arrest of journalist over 'false' report on Chinese spies

Police act after election commission files complaint against reporter

By Anadolu staff

ANKARA (AA) – South Korean police on Tuesday sought an arrest warrant for a journalist accused of spreading false information about the arrest of 99 Chinese nationals at a National Election Commission (NEC) facility, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The report, published in January, claimed Chinese spies were detained during a joint South Korea-US military operation and transferred to a US base in Okinawa, where they allegedly confessed to election interference.

The NEC denied the claims and filed a police complaint, the news agency reported.
