MADRID (AA) - Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said Wednesday that his country is committed to keep the NATO-led Patriot missile deployment in Turkey.

Speaking at the NATO summit in London, Sanchez said that Spain pledged to keep its missile defense systems deployed in the southern Adana province during 2020.

Also, Spain’s Prime Ministry said in a statement that Sanchez's pledge was recognized by the other member states of the alliance.

Spain’s Patriot air defense missiles were deployed in Adana in 2015, replacing the Netherlands'. The missiles were deployed as part of Turkey's request for NATO assistance for possible attacks from Syria to Turkey.
