GENEVA (AA) - Spain and the Czech Republic on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties by signing a memorandum of understanding to enhance political, economic, and cultural cooperation.
Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares met his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky in Prague for political consultations, emphasizing the two countries' shared commitment to European unity, security, and prosperity.
"Spain and the Czech Republic are two countries committed to European unity, security, and prosperity," Albares said on X. "Today, my counterpart Jan Lipavsky and I held political consultations in Prague to further deepen our political, economic, and cultural relationship."
The meeting comes as trade between the two EU member states continue to grow. According to Lipavsky, the bilateral trade turnover in 2024 reached nearly €8.9 billion (about $10.2 billion).
"We aim to further strengthen (trade relations), along with our cooperation in Europe and security," he said on X, adding that the newly signed memorandum of understanding with Albares would support those goals.
