ANKARA (AA) – Spain received 6.1 million international tourists in April, an almost tenfold jump from a year ago, according to official data released on Wednesday.
The figure was slightly below the pre-pandemic mark of 7.14 million in April 2019, Spain’s National Institute of Statistics (INE) said in a statement.
It was 869.8% higher than the number recorded in April 2021, which was just over 629,200.
INE data showed foreign tourists spent €6.9 billion ($7.39 billion) in Spain this April, a massive jump from €668 million ($716.8 million) in the same month last year.
