WASHINGTON (AA) - US House Speaker Mike Johnson said Wednesday that a vote on the Senate’s budget resolution will proceed later in the day, as scheduled, with enough Republican votes expected to secure its passage.
“I believe we will — eventually we will,” Johnson told reporters. “I think it’s gonna pass today.”
The budget, which supports President Donald Trump’s key domestic initiatives, has sparked concerns from some Republicans who prefer a more stringent House version.
These lawmakers are concerned the Senate plan, which calls for just $4 billion in spending cuts, doesn’t go far enough in reducing federal spending.
