MOSCOW (AA) - The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) announced on Wednesday that it will ban the Speedtest app, which measures the speed of the internet connection.
The statement noted that the decision was made due to the security threat posed to Russia's internet and communications network, and recommended using domestic services instead.
Various services from companies such as Meta, Google, and Microsoft have been banned in Russia for various reasons.
In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that services like Microsoft and Zoom should be "suffocated" and ordered the development of domestic alternatives.
