Strong earthquake jolts Philippines

6.1-magnitue quake strikes at depth of 20.1 kilometers, says United States Geological Survey

ANKARA (AA) - A 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit the Philippines on Wednesday, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake occurred at a depth of 20.1 kilometers (12.48 miles).

No damage to life or property was reported.

The Philippines, one of the countries with the highest seismic activity in the world, is located in the Pacific Earthquake Belt, also known as the "Ring of Fire."
