Head of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, South Sudanese president speak over phone

JUBA, South Sudan (AA) - President of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday spoke over the phone to discuss bilateral ties.

According to the Facebook page of South Sudan’s Presidential Press unit, Kiir reiterated that the support of South Sudan to the Republic of the Sudan is driven by a genuine desire to live peacefully.

Burhan thanked the South Sudanese president for his continuous support to the people of Sudan.

The South Sudanese leader and al-Burhan had also met in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of a power sharing deal between then ruling Sudan’s Transitional Military Council (TMC) and opposition Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) alliance on Aug 17.
