Khartoum, Sudan (AA) - Sudan on Monday welcomed its removal from a revised U.S. travel ban.
US administration of the President Trump had issued a travel ban against the citizens of seven Muslim countries including Syria, Libya, Iran, Yemen, Somalia, Iraq and Sudan.
Iraq was already removed from the list in March.
On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump also removed Sudan and added three more countries -- North Korea, Venezuela and Chad.
Garib Allah Alkhidir, Sudanese Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, welcomed the decision, describing it as a “positive step” towards normalization of bilateral relations between the two countries.
He told Anadolu Agency that the Sudanese government is keen to make more efforts in order to overcome any obstacles for normalizing the US-Sudan ties.
Sudan is still on the US blacklist of the countries that are sponsoring international terrorism.
