KABUL, Afghanistan (AA) - A suicide attack was followed by a gun battle at an identity card distribution center in Afghanistan's Jalalabad city on Wednesday, an official said.

Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the governor of eastern Nangarhar province, said in a statement that the identity card distribution center in the third district of Jalalabad was hit with a suicide attack at around 01.30 p.m. local time (09:00 GMT).

Mubarez Attal, a police spokesman, told Anadolu Agency a number of gunmen stormed the facility following the attack.

The local Azadi Radio reported at least 10 people, including women and children, were injured in the attack.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.

Bordering Pakistan's restive tribal region, the Nangarhar province has been marred by pro-Daesh and the Taliban’s militancy.
