Super Lig: Title race heats up with thrilling games

All seven current title contenders face at least one other challenger within a week's time

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey’s premier football league is set for some riveting action as all seven current title contenders face at least one other challenger within a week’s time.

The top seven are separated by just six points and the fixtures this weekend and the next could prove decisive in the title race.

The Super Lig action starts this Friday with Besiktas, who are seventh for now, traveling to third-placed Medipol Basaksehir.

Sunday will witness a top-of-the-table clash between league leaders Sivasspor and second-placed Trabzonspor.

The two sides have a one-point difference as Sivasspor lead the pack with 42 points, however Trabzonspor have a game at hand.

Sivasspor will also kick off next week’s action against fourth-placed Aytemiz Alanyaspor on Friday, followed by Besiktas and Trabzonspor’s game on Saturday.

Reigning champions Galatasaray, currently in fifth spot, will take on sixth-placed rivals Fenerbahce on Sunday.

There will be more than bragging rights up for grabs in the derby as the bitter foes are just a point apart on the table.
