ISTANBUL (AA) - Sweden’s Customs Administration led an operation late Saturday, boarding a Russian ship in Swedish waters for an inspection after it suffered an engine failure.
The Russian ship Adler remained under inspection on Sunday morning while anchored off Hoganas in southwest Sweden following engine problems, according to broadcaster SVT.
The night-time operation was led by the Swedish Customs Administration along with the Coast Guard, National Task Force, Swedish Security Service and prosecutors.
According to the broadcaster, the ship is owned by Russian company M Leasing LLC, which is on US and EU sanctions lists over arms transports to Russia.
