Brother of Marseille attacker arrested in Swiss town, police confirm

GENEVA (AA) - Swiss police on Tuesday said they had detained two people in connection with a deadly knife attack at Marseille train station in France on October 1.

A male and a female were arrested on Sunday at an asylum seekers’ reception center in Chiasso town on the Swiss-Italian border, the Swiss Federal Office of Police confirmed.

The male suspect is a brother of the knifeman of Marseille attack, 29-year-old Tunisian Ahmed Hannachi.

On Oct. 1, Hannachi was shot dead by a French soldier after killing two young women outside Marseille train station in southern France in a suspected terrorist attack.
