ISTANBUL (AA) - Syria, Jordan and the US held a trilateral meeting in Damascus on Tuesday to discuss the situation in the southern Suwayda province.

The meeting brought together Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, and US envoy to Syria Tom Barrack, the Syrian state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya TV reported.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry confirmed the meeting in a post on the US social media company X, saying Safadi was in Damascus for talks with al-Shaibani and Barrack on the Syrian crisis.

The ministry said the discussions build on earlier rounds hosted by Amman in July and August that focused on consolidating a ceasefire in Suwayda and finding a resolution to the conflict there.

Suwayda has observed a ceasefire since July 19 following a week of armed clashes between Druze groups and Bedouin tribes and Israeli military attacks.
