ANKARA (AA) – Syria said early Wednesday that Israel conducted airstrikes on the capital Damascus.
Syrian air defenses responded to the attacks and shot down some of the missiles launched by Israeli aircraft, Saudi Arabia’s state-run Al Ekhbariya news channel reported.
In and around Damascus, there are military installations of the regime forces and Iranian-backed foreign terrorist groups.
There was no comment from the Israeli authorities on the report.
For years, Israel has targeted sites of Iranian and Syrian regime forces in Syria.
Israel rarely claims responsibility for its attacks there.
