Taliban attack kills 13 police officers in Afghanistan

Militants attack police station in northern Balkh province

MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan (AA) - At least 13 police officers were killed Wednesday in a Taliban attack in northern Afghanistan, an official said.

Munir Ahmad Farhad, spokesman of the Balkh governor’s office, told reporters that the Taliban attacked a police station in Chahar Bolak district.

Farhad said that the militants were repelled by the security forces dispatched to the region upon attack.

Meanwhile, the Taliban asserted that the attack claimed 24 lives of soldiers and police officers.
