Thousands more Ukrainians arrive in Poland in past day: Officials

Number of Ukrainians who have crossed into Poland since beginning of Russia's war exceeds 12.6M

LONDON (AA) – Some 28,300 more Ukrainians crossed into Poland in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to over 12.64 million, Polish authorities said on Wednesday.

Since Feb. 24, 2022, when Russia launched war in Ukraine, around 12.64 million people have crossed into Poland from Ukraine, Radio Poland reported, citing the Polish Border Guard figures.

The state security agency also said around 23,400 people crossed from Poland into Ukraine on Tuesday.

Currently, some 4 million Ukrainians stay in the EU, while over 1.5 million of them remain in Poland, according to recent data.

The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war has killed over 8,900 civilians and wounded more than 15,400, according to the latest UN figures.
