WASHINGTON (AA) - Thousands of people took to the streets in Queens on Friday for the funeral of a New York City firefighter who died while battling an home inferno in Brooklyn.
Timothy Klein, 31, died on Sunday when the second story of a home collapsed, trapping him and other firefighters, according to WCBS News Radio. The other firefighters were able to escape, but Klein and a 21-year-old civilian, Carlos Richards, died in the fire.
“Tim made an impression on everybody he worked with, junior men who he trained and senior men who he impressed,” Fire Department of New York Lt. Robert Kittelberger said on Thursday, according to the radio station's website.
"This has been heartbreaking for us. We are going to stick together and get through the next couple of days and take care of each other," he added.
