Three PKK terrorists killed in eastern, SE Turkey

Five others captured during operations in Diyarbakir and Bingol provinces

ANKARA / TUNCELI, Turkey (AA) - Three PKK terrorists have been killed and five others captured in counter-terrorism operations in eastern and southeastern Turkey, the military said Wednesday.

The terrorists were killed in an air raid launched Tuesday in the rural areas of Hani and Lice districts in southeastern Diyarbakir province, the General Staff said in a statement.

The security forces also captured three others in the ongoing operation, the statement said, adding the remaining two terrorists were captured in Kigi district of eastern Bingol province.

The operations also saw the capture of a weapons cache and ammunition.

Meanwhile, one PKK terrorist who surrendered to security forces on March 15 in eastern Tunceli province, has been remanded in custody, according to a statement by the governor's office on Wednesday.

Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU, the PKK has killed more than 1,200 people including security force personnel and civilians since July 2015.
