LONDON (AA) - Finland's Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen will meet with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and European security, including Russia’s war on Ukraine, the Finnish Foreign Ministry said Monday.
The discussions will cover support for Ukraine, threats posed by Russia’s so-called shadow fleet, and cooperation within the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), the ministry said in a statement.
“JEF cooperation and joint measures targeting Russia’s shadow fleet are important for security in both Europe and the Baltic Sea,” Valtonen said ahead of her visit. The JEF is a military collaboration initiative involving 10 northern European nations, designed for rapid response and expeditionary operations.
Valtonen also emphasized Finland’s close cooperation with the UK on sanctions and countering Russia’s hybrid operations.
