NEW YORK (AA) - At least one person was killed and dozens hurt in a destructive tornado that ripped through Perryton, Texas on Thursday, according to media reports.
Search and rescue efforts are underway, authorities said.
Widespread damage was reported throughout the area with destroyed homes, ripped trees and one overturned truck.
Around 50,000 people were without electricity in Texas and Oklahoma, according to poweroutage.us.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said they deployed critical emergency response resources to help those impacted by tornadoes in Perryton on Twitter.
