ISTANBUL (AA) – With the first half of the 2021-22 season in Turkish Super Lig wrapping up on Monday, Trabzonspor are currently dominating the top-tier league with 14 wins, four draws and only one defeat.

The Black Sea side, which has collected 46 points, set a new record for most points, surpassing Fenerbahce's previous record of 45 points in the 2005-06 season.

Second-placed Konyaspor have trailed Trabzonspor with seven points behind, while Istanbul Basaksehir are placed in the third spot with 33 points, ending the supremacy of Istanbul powerhouses – Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas.

The first half ended with disappointment for the Turkish football's traditional big three. Fenerbahce and Besiktas parted ways with their managers over poor results.

The 2020-21 Turkish Super Lig champion Besiktas are placed in the seventh spot with 28 points. The Black Eagles sacked manager Sergen Yalcin on Dec. 9.

The Yellow Canaries terminated the contract of their Portuguese manager Vitor Pereira after they drew with city rivals Besiktas 2-2 at Ulker Stadium on matchday 17.

Fenerbahce collected 32 points in 19 matches to rank fourth in the standings.

Galatasaray have remained in 10th place after tasting a 2-0 home win over FTA Antalyaspor in the 19th week.

Under the helm of Fatih Terim, the Lions have seven wins, six defeats, and six draws with 27 points.
