HAMILTON, Canada (AA) - US President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will travel to North Carolina on Tuesday to mark the Army's 250th birthday, according to the Pentagon.

The visit will include meetings with soldiers and military families as well as the observation of training events and other planned activities as part of the Army’s official birthday kickoff.

"Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will travel to Fort Bragg, North Carolina on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, accompanying President Donald J. Trump as part of the U.S. Army's start of their 250th birthday celebrations," the Pentagon said in a media advisory.

In February, Hegseth signed a memorandum directing that Fort Liberty, North Carolina be renamed to Fort Bragg in honor of Army Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II paratrooper and Silver Star Medal recipient.
