NEW YORK (AA) - Former US President Donald Trump was found liable Tuesday for sexually abusing and defaming former magazine columnist E. Jean Carroll.

A jury in Manhattan reached the verdict in a civil lawsuit.

The jury also ordered the former president to pay Carroll $5 million in damages.

Carroll accused Trump of rape in a New York department store nearly three decades ago in the mid-1990s.

Trump denied the accusation, saying Carroll was ''not my type'' and accused her of lying.

The former president responded to the verdict by stating on Truth Social: "I have absolutely no idea who this woman is. This verdict is a disgrace - a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time!"
