ISTANBUL (AA) - President Donald Trump stated Wednesday that the US should be paying the "lowest interest rate, by far," in the world as nonfarm payroll employment in the US exceeded expectations in January.
"GREAT JOBS NUMBERS, FAR GREATER THAN EXPECTED! The United States of America should be paying MUCH LESS on its Borrowings (BONDS!)," he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Trump emphasized that the US is "the strongest Country in the world, and should therefore be paying the LOWEST INTEREST RATE, by far."
"This would be an INTEREST COST SAVINGS OF AT LEAST ONE TRILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR - BALANCED BUDGET, PLUS. WOW!" he added.
The US economy added 130,000 jobs in January, well above forecasts, and up from 48,000 the previous month.
The unemployment rate fell to 4.3% last month, from 4.4% in December.
