Trump slams US judges on deportation rulings

'Our Court System is not letting me do the job I was Elected to do,' president says on Truth Social

HAMILTON, Canada (AA) - US President Donald Trump criticized court rulings Wednesday that blocked his administration's attempts to deport undocumented immigrants accused of violent crimes.

"Our Court System is not letting me do the job I was Elected to do. Activist judges must let the Trump Administration deport murderers, and other criminals who have come into our Country illegally, WITHOUT DELAY!!!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump's comments came after a second federal judge ruled that the US president overstepped his authority by using the Alien Enemies Act (AEA) to deport Venezuelan nationals accused of having gang ties. The law was created in 1798 to be used during times of war.

A just in the state of Texas last week issued a similar ruling, saying Trump's use of the AEA was unlawful for deporting suspected gang members.

The White House has not responded to the rulings.
