Tunisia launches COVID vaccination drive for over 40s

Over 551,000 vaccine doses administered at 335 health centers across country, says Health Ministry

TUNIS, Tunisia (AA) – Tunisia launched a COVID-19 vaccination drive Sunday for people over the age of 40, with more than half a million receiving the jab, according to officials.

The Health Ministry said in a statement that a total of 551,008 vaccine doses were administered at 335 health centers across the country.

It noted that the country’s COVID-19 National Vaccination Day attracted great attention.

According to the statement, a total of 3.83 million people in the country have now been vaccinated, with 2.59 million for the first dose and 1.24 million for two doses.

The country, with a population of nearly 12 million, has confirmed 610,660 cases and 20,931 deaths from the virus, while the number of recoveries totals 542,210.
