SIRNAK, Turkey (AA) - A soldier was martyred and five others injured Tuesday during an operation against PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey, said a security source.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said PKK terrorists detonated a roadside bomb in Gabar mountain region of Sirnak province while a security convoy was passing by.
The injured were rushed to a hospital in Sirnak.
The operation to nab the terrorists remain underway, said the source.
More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have been killed since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign in July 2015.
