ERZURUM, Turkey (AA) - Police in eastern Erzurum province arrested Friday two people who were suspected of finding recruits for the terrorist group PKK/KCK.

A statement from the Erzurum governor's office said the two suspects were with the terror group's "youth branch", and they have been trying to lure university students into their ranks and take up arms.

For more than 30 years, the PKK has waged a terror campaign against Turkey leading to the deaths of more than 40,000 people -- security forces and civilians alike -- including more than 1,200 since July 2015 alone.
