ANKARA (AA) - Five terrorists surrendered to security forces in eastern Turkey after persuasion efforts, according to the country’s Interior Ministry on Saturday.
The ministry said in a statement that PKK/KCK terrorists surrendered at Sirnak’s Habur border gate.
It added that with the support of families, the number of the surrendered terrorists reached its highest level in recent years.
A total of 13 terrorists surrendered by persuasion since the start of 2020.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
