ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Forces killed eight PKK terrorists in ongoing counterterrorism operations in southeastern provinces of Turkey in a week, sources said.
According to a security source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, seven PKK terrorists were killed between Apr. 6 to 12 in southeastern Mardin province.
Sources have given detailed information about guns, artillery, explosives seized in the operations.
One terrorist was killed in a counterterrorism operation in Silopi district of Sirnak province on Apr. 7.
Six caves were detected in Mardin province. One M-16 rifle with six chargers, one AK-47 rifle with 51 chargers, one pistol and four grenades were seized in the caves.
One cave was detected in Hakkari. 11 RPG-7 artillery, 1,904 AK-47 rifle cartridges and 9 grenades were seized in the cave.
One suspected terrorist was taken into custody in Mus province on Apr. 8.
Nineteen improvised explosive devices, over 22 kilograms of TNT mixed powder and 9 kilograms of PE-A4 explosive, 426 AK-47 rifle cartridges were seized in Silopi district of Sirnak province.
A hundred kilogram of ammonium nitrate were detected and destroyed in a controlled blast in Hazro district of Diyarbakir province on Apr. 9.
In Lice district of the province, over three tonnes of hashish were seized on the same day.
A body of a terrorist was found along with one M-16 rifle in a shelter in Bitlis province on Apr. 10.
